Its always good to keep pushing the limits with photography. The photographs you see before you were taken earlier this year for the photo-library, Cultura Images. Working with art director Mark Turner the intention was to photograph everyday scenes using high speed flash to record extreme movement, thus creating visually dramatic images of life.
Even when the shoot is self funded I still believe it is important to keep the production values high. After an extensive recce, a wonderful location was chosen in Clapham. A comprehensive casting with undertaken at Pineapple dance studios to find two models with good core strength, flexibility and who could move and jump elegantly. Endless dancers and actors were cast, and finally two people were chosen : Christe Saunders, a former ballet dancer and gymnast and actor, Tristran Newman.
Emma Naughten provided the styling and wardrobe for the assignment.
The equipment used for the shoot was Profoto 7 Flash rated at minimum power. The photographs were taken using a Canon 5D mk2 and a 50mm F1.2 lens.

The first shoot was for the Rights managed arm of Cultura Images. Rights managed stock photography is purely about, quality not quantity. When shooting for Rights managed the aim is to produce 20 ’stand alone’, ‘hero’ images The second shoot was for the royalty free arm of Cultura images. The shoot and undertaken two weeks later in a location house close to Barnes station and the primary aim was to produce a vast number of good quality images, all in one day. A big thanks must go to Cedric Martinez and Andriele from MOT model agency for their enthusiasm during the shoot.
New advertising 2009.
After what seemed like eternity working on editorial commissions, I finally started work in June on a Pan-European advertising campaign for the sliming enhancer, Appesat.
The shoot was commissioned by the Advertising agency, T7fLondon and Art Directed by Kevin Mura. The intention of the advertisement was to show three size 12+ models living life to the full while taking the naturally sourced seaweed complex. Appesat is clinically proven to make you feel fuller and eat less.
The shoot was undertaken at the Worx studio complex in west London, with the Styling provided by Cathy Sinker and the Make-up by Keely Mangham.
Several ideas were discussed and shot for the campaign which was to go pan-European onto 6 sheet, 12 sheet and 48 sheet poster sites.
The final 6 sheet and 48 sheet posters are shown below.
